About these pages
These pages describe Serony and its planned app release. Some app features remain subject to launch checks before they become available.
You can contact Serony now for support, privacy questions, and account deletion requests.
Delete your Serony account
You can request deletion inside Serony or through the public request route. You do not need to reinstall the app.
This deletes the account and associated data. It is not a temporary pause, and later registration does not restore the account or its content.
Operator: Serony. Privacy contact: [email protected]. Public request route: https://serony.app/account-deletion/.
Request deletion inside the app
The app requires recent authentication and one explicit confirmation before accepting account deletion.
- Open Settings → Manage privacy.
- Choose the account deletion action.
- Complete any required sign-in verification.
- Review the consequences and confirm deletion once.
- Use a verified connection for server acceptance. An offline action cannot confirm server deletion.
Request deletion without the app
The public route accepts an account deletion request without an app installation or an active signed-in session.
We verify control of the account before deletion. The normal verification path uses the registered email, not government identification.
We acknowledge manual requests within a target of 48 hours and aim to complete them within 14 days. Applicable legal deadlines take precedence.
Once we accept a verified request, the same deletion process applies as for an in-app request.
- Email [email protected] with the subject "Serony account deletion".
- State that you want to delete your Serony account and its associated data.
- Use the account's registered email where possible, or explain that you cannot access it.
- Do not send a password, login code, recovery link, testimony, prayer words, or identity document with the initial request.
- Complete the proportionate ownership verification through the approved secure process.
What happens after acceptance
The accepted request immediately closes the account, revokes server sessions, stops receiving and optional processing, and unpublishes every associated testimony.
Private statements, themes, prayer signals, profile data, active push tokens, and account-linked delivery records are removed through the deletion process.
We anonymize your identity as a reporter where a governed report record must continue. The report itself follows its restricted retention schedule.
Live testimony bodies, revisions, images, evidence, and other contributor-supplied content are erased within 24 hours, except narrowly authorized held evidence.
Inaccessible backup residue expires within 30 days. Connected devices purge controlled copies on reconciliation.
Accepted deletion work retries automatically after a provider or processing failure. A failure cannot restore access, publication, receiving, or matching.
Any completion receipt contains only the minimum status information. It does not reproduce your private content.
Limited records that can remain
Only the minimum records with a separate lawful purpose can remain. They do not keep your account open or your testimonies published.
Ordinary content-free deletion and necessary governance records have a planned maximum of 24 months. Unsubmitted draft deletion evidence expires within 30 days.
Restricted report or case records can continue under their own schedule after we remove your account identity. Content-bearing closed notes expire within six months.
A legal or serious-safety hold requires a specific authorized purpose. A routine report, appeal, disagreement, or moderation backlog does not justify it.
Safety-only evidence requires independent authorization, review at least every 30 days, and deletion within 90 days.
A confirmed legal duty retains only its required minimum material for its specified period. Legal holds receive periodic review at least every 90 days.
We explain a hold unless law or immediate safety prevents disclosure. Account closure and unpublication still happen immediately.
When the hold ends, we erase live evidence within 24 hours and inaccessible backup residue within 30 days.
Offline copies and external sharing
Connected readers lose access immediately. A temporarily offline device can retain a previously prepared Serony copy until reconnection or controlled expiry.
Every Serony-controlled offline testimony copy expires no later than 30 days after its scheduled delivery. Deletion cannot remotely recall that copy instantly.
An unlisted Serony link stops serving the testimony after unpublication. Copies on another person's device or service remain outside Serony's control.
If your testimony is published, recipients may share it or capture a copy. Deleting your account will remove it from Serony and stop future delivery, but Serony cannot recall copies already shared, saved, screenshotted, or held on an offline device.
Other privacy choices
You can keep your account while deleting a trust statement, disabling matching, deleting prayer signals, or withdrawing a selected testimony or public image.
Pause receiving stops new delivery but does not delete the account. Uninstalling the app does not itself submit an account deletion request.
If you need help with verification, retained records, or a deletion problem, contact [email protected].
You can raise a privacy complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. These app controls do not remove your statutory rights.
